Caring for your Greyhound

When you adopt one of our greyhounds you will receive alot of informations on your new friend, from our team; this will include dietary requirements and information, settling in your greyhound, training and many more hints and tips.

Greyhounds only need a few home comforts to help them settle in to their new home.

    1. A raised feeding and water stand, greyhound find it difficult to eat and drink from the floor with them being tall dogs with long legs.

    2. A muzzle will insure safe walking with your new friend while you get to know them.

    3. Greyhound collars are made from leather and are much wider then a normal collar. Greyhounds have long necks, the thicker collar protects the neck if the dog should pull.

    4. A large dog bed with soft spongy sides.

    5. A grooming glove is gentle on the short greyhound coat.

    6. Greyhounds feel the cold just like us and need a warm water proof coat for those winter walks.

    7. Some greyhounds have bald patches on their back legs, which, when sunny can easily burn so a high factor sun screen can be applied

Greyhounds love their meals and, like us, like a variety of different foods. We suggest canned oily fish for strong bones and shiny healthy fur and skin; 1 sardine mixed in to their dry food will be a tasty treat.

A good dry complete food is recommended this can be mixed with a little warm water and some easy digestible dog meat. Mandy, Pat or Kelly will be able to give guidance on food and brands of dog food.

Playing with toys; Some greyhounds love dog toys while others don't bother with them. Playing with toys; some greyhounds love dog toys while others don't bother with them. They love chasing tennis balls but rarely bring them back!

Greyhounds love having their own warm comfy corner of the house, where they can escape the hussle and bussel of family life for 5 minutes.
