This majestic breed has a long and respected past, they are recognised as being one of the oldest pedigree breed of dog recorded, their roots stem back to the time, when man unleashed the dog not for sport but to hunt a dog of such speed was deemed as a valuable animal, and was a capital offence to kill one.

Greyhounds are predominately working dogs, and are natural canine athletes, Greyhound racing was introduced to Britain in the 1920’s, and today is the third most popular spectator sport, It is an unfortunate fact that each year thousands of unwanted Greyhounds are needlessly destroyed as a result.
The average age for a Greyhound to retire is 4yrs, but some can be younger, due to injury or a reluctance to chase, 80% are Irish bred, there are many misconception about Greyhounds, these are myths, as they really do make great pets, they have proven to be Adaptable, Loyal, Affectionate, undemanding dogs, that ask for no more than, human companionship and a comfortable place to rest.
